The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been approved for pre-order by Vodafone NZ since the 25th of May, which in my opinion is a big slap in the face for the more important mobile market of Australia. It is such a shame that the big networks of Australia can’t get their act together and test upcoming phones with more efficiency on their networks.

So far the only model available to pre-order is the 16GB white model. Whether this is due to a lack of supply for other models or due to popularity via pre-order is uncertain. You can expect to pay $0 for the phone itself with any plan that is $90NZD and over.
The flexibility is decent but pricey – with plans starting $45NZD to $150NZD per month between the Smart Data and Smart Plans, with the main difference being the data allowance between them.
You can expect to only be billed when the Samsung Galaxy S3 is released in New Zealand and this offer is only valid via the online order page.
Due to unprecedented demand (which just highlights the popularity of the phone), Vodafone NZ advise that it could take 1-3 weeks before delivery can occur. This is expected worldwide due to the number of handsets allocated in specific regions.
To add a little incentive to ordering the Galaxy S3 (not that any is needed), Vodafone are offering customers the chance to win a trip out to space if you pre-order between the 25th of May and the 15th of July 2012.
Overall, the value is high for a Galaxy S3 from Vodafone, but it is disappointing this hasn’t been offered to Australian customers just yet. What a pity.

The fact that the S3 still hasn’t been put up for pre-orders in Australia is just wrong. Seeing as Australia clearly has a larger population than NZ and therefore a larger market why exactly haven’t we seen any evidence of a S3 even getting close to the shores of Australia just baffles me. The only thing I have heard about the S3 coming to AUS is that there is some sort of thing going on with all the carriers of Australia this Thursday (31st May). Whether or not this has anything to do with the S3 is up to debate.
