Yes I know that pun in the title was a terrible joke… just as bad as the joke that New Zealand have the chance to pre-order the Galaxy S3 before Australia : /
So what’s the run down?
Dubai residents waiting for the much lauded smartphone got the shock of their lives when they saw the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone on sale – a full week before its scheduled launch in the United Arab Emirates and other countries in the region. Its hefty price tag, around 2500 AED ($691 AUD – pretty cheap for Aus!)
for the 16 GB phone, didn’t seem to deter eager buyers who were only too thrilled to pick up this coveted smartphone and check out its fantastic features.
There was never any doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S3 was going to be a smashing success going by the numbers of people who have pre-ordered it – 9 million and rising. It is widely believed that sales of this phone will cross the 20 million mark, making it more successful than its predecessor the Galaxy S2. As a matter of fact, reliable sources say that this phone is going to be much more popular than the iPhone 4S. Most stores don’t even have any stocks of the phone left since they have already been sold out because of the huge demand.
Tell us something we don’t know
It’s hardly surprising that this phone has received such an enthusiastic response. It has a 4.8 HD Super AMOLED display while being only 8.6mm thick & 133 grams heavy. This phone runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and it is powered by a powerful quad core EXYNOS chip. It is also equipped with an 8 MP rear camera and a 1.9 MP front camera. The front camera is used for the phone’s ‘Smart Stay’ feature which keeps track of the user’s eyes in order to keep the screen ‘on’ for as long as necessary.
At present the Galaxy S3 is available in Marble White only; stores say that phones in Pebble Blue will be available in a couple of weeks or so. People who want to buy the 32 GB phone will still have to wait for the company to launch it in stores. The scheduled launch date has been set for June 4 and there is no doubt that people will queue up to buy this phone as well.
