Samsung released its coveted new smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S3, in Australia on the 1st of June 2012 to a market that was eagerly awaiting it. This phone, a marvel of superb design and the latest technology, was made available to consumers the very same day. If you hadn’t pre-ordered one then you can still walk into a store and buy one of these phones (if it is still available; they are flying off the shelves at a speed that makes the people at Apple cringe).
Customers based in Australia can choose between one of the three major networks – Telstra, Vodafone or Optus. Both Vodafone and Optus were on the Samsung bandwagon right from the outset and they were taking pre-orders for this high tech phone. Virgin Mobile Australia, a subsidiary of Optus is also doing the same now.
This high end smartphone is not just technologically advanced but it is also very attractive. What is currently available is the 16GB Marble White version of the Samsung Galaxy S3.Customers who want the Pebble Blue Version will have to wait a few days more in order to lay their hands on it. However, it has to be stated that both options are equally attractive.
The 16GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is priced at $899. However, it is possible to get it at lower prices if you take the trouble of shopping around. It’s a good idea to do comparison shopping between the different carriers in order to find out which one offers the best rates.
Vodafone’s offerings
Vodafone – You can get both the 16GB and 32GB models of the Samsung Galaxy S3 from Vodafone. If you buy the phone before June 30 then you can benefit from double data inclusion for the first 12 months. Vodafone has a very attractive 24-month payment plan that works out to a fairly affordable $49 per month. This plan is very advantageous considering that it also consists of 200 MB of data and unlimited national voice.
Optus’s offerings
Optus – Optus offers excellent discounts on the handset price. Its 24-month payment plan works out to $65 per month. If you consider that it also consists of $650 unlimited standard national SMS and voice call to Optus handsets over and above 1.5GB data then you will appreciate what a good plan it is. An added advantage is unlimited access to social networking sites and two months free access fee. If you buy the Samsung Galaxy S3 before July 31 you can also earn twice the usual number of Qantas Frequent Flyer points earned for the duration of the two-year contract. However, this offer does not apply to Virgin Mobile users.
Telstras’s offerings
Telstra – Telstra users can get the Samsung Galaxy S3 for a 24-month plan at $59 per month that includes $550 Calls and MMS, Unlimited Text and 1.5GB of data.
You can also get the Samsung Galaxy S3 from retailers such as Amazon and MobiCity. They offer it at extremely attractive prices and it’s no surprise that sticks are dwindling.
