Samsung Galaxy S3

This is an extremely bad move for Samsung, especially in Australia where they could make a real power play….

As reported by Gizmodo, Samsung Australia have announced an official statement which outlines their frosty treatment of the Australian market.

“Samsung Electronics Australia is pleased there is continued interest about our GALAXY range in Australia, but we have no plans to make any announcements at this time”

With an attitude like that, Samsung is probably not going to be denting the market stranglehold that Apple have on Australians anytime soon. In fact, you have better luck of slaking your Galaxy thirst by buying from an importer off eBay than you would buying directly on a plan – at least they’ll be unlocked…

We will update you when Samsung get their head of the ground and release a proper statement on their offerings for the Australian market!

The Galaxy SIII is made with durable plastics that make up the design and feel of the phone, an experience that is similar to the precursor – the Galaxy S2. It also has a physical home button which puts the bezel less design rumours to rest as well. You’ll just have to wait for the next generation of ‘buttonless’ phones.

It appears the default colour will be grayish, but we can only hope a white & black version will be launched at the same time. It will be interesting to see who sells Samsung Galaxy S3 covers first… You got to protect your smartphone!

The screen itself is a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED HD screen with a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels that gives a sharper and vivid display than arguably any other smartphone out on the market.

I personally can’t wait to get my hands on this sexy beast of a smartphone. Oh how you have won me over, my Samsung Galaxy S3!

Overnight, Amazon Germany have released the Samsung Galaxy S3 for pre order internationally. Lucky krauts!

I’m not sure whether this is intentional or a planned released on Amazons part but either way, it’s another great free marketing boon to Samsung Electronics.

The price is 599 Euros including VAT (the European version of GST) with free delivery which is the equivalent of $763 AUD however don’t think that this will be the Australian price as there will be other costs involved in the retail price.

The pre order claims to have a 4.7 inch Super AMOLED with a 12 MP camera that has auto focus & face detection capabilities. It also claims to have Ice Cream Sandwich but this is anyones guess. 16 GB internal and up to 32 gb expandable are what is claimed for memory capabilities.

We can only hope Germany are right with this!

Cnet has recently reported that an unnamed source in the UK has commented that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 will just be a minor incremental upgrade to the Galaxy S2. In fact, the biggest thing about the S3 is that it will have a major processing / internet speed boost over the S2 and additional eye tracking capabilities for applications, camera snaps and video phone calls. Oh noes!
